XL Airways is a french charter airline based in Paris Charles de Gaulle. It was founded in 1995 as Star Europe, but renamed to Star Airlines in 1997. In 2006 it was taken over by british XL Leisure Group and renamed to XL Airways France. In 2008 XL Leisure Group was declared bancrupt and Starumur Investment Bank took over XL Airways France and german sister company whereas british XL Airways ceased operations. XL Airways Germany ceased operations in 2012, remaining france sister company as the only XL Airways company.
